Why am I subscribing vs. contributing when I feel like it?

At this time, instead of a one-time contribution, Standard Giving Co. offers a subscription-based model that fosters a long-term commitment to helping others. This approach provides members with regular updates on their impact and keeps them connected to the community they’re supporting. This unique model builds loyalty, provides sustained support to recipients, and helps members see their impact unfold over time.

Why “Standard Giving?”

At Standard Giving Co., we believe kindness should be the norm, not the exception. Our name reflects our mission to set a new standard for giving—one where generosity becomes a seamless part of everyday life. Through monthly (or annual) subscriptions, we pool resources to support people in need, making giving as easy and consistent as possible.

Can I get a refund?

Given the nature of our mission and the immediate allocation of funds to active Campaigns and recipients, all subscriptions and verification fees are final and nonrefundable. This policy ensures the integrity of our operations and guarantees that every dollar contributed reaches those it’s intended to support.

How are you different?

Okay, you’ve probably asked yourself at some point, “What’s the difference between Standard Giving and something like GoFundMe?” The answer is simple: Standard Giving provides direct support. Unlike other platforms, we can pay off debts directly, delivering immediate financial relief in a way that’s both sustainable and impactful. This approach ensures that every subscription creates real, measurable change for those in need.

Is there a platform fee?

Yes, Standard Giving Co. retains a small portion of the funds collected to support the mission of connecting people in need with those willing to help. This fee covers administrative and operational costs, including costs associated with applicant verification and fund distribution. The majority of every subscription goes directly to Beneficiaries. How can I subscribe?

Visit the Impact Partner’s website to subscribe to their Kindness Community. There, you can choose the subscription plan that works best for you and directly join their efforts to create meaningful change. Please note, you must be 18 years or older to subscribe.

How is my subscription used?

Each subscription contributes to a growing pool of funds dedicated to supporting individuals facing financial challenges. Verified Beneficiaries are selected based on specific Campaign criteria, and the funds are used to directly pay off their debts, providing immediate and meaningful relief.

How are people selected for support?

We carefully review each application to understand who could benefit most from assistance. While we use advanced technology to help evaluate applications fairly, our focus is on finding people where support could make a lasting difference in their lives. We’ll adjust our evaluation process to align with these objectives and reach those most in need.

How will I know my contribution made an impact?

Each month you will receive an impact report showcasing how your subscription, along with the collective efforts of our kindness community, made a difference. These updates include stories of individuals who’ve received support and insights into the broader impact created by everyone’s generosity. 

Why should I subscribe?

Subscribing to a Kindness Community allows you to create immediate, tangible change by providing direct financial relief to those in need. It’s a simple, impactful way to turn kindness into action and make a real difference.

Can I pause or edit my subscription?

Of course! Simply navigate to one of your recent billing emails or receipts and click “Manage subscription” at the bottom. If you need assistance, you can always reach out to our support team to adjust, pause, or cancel your subscription.

Is my subscription considered tax deductible?

Generally, subscriptions like the ones offered through Standard Giving Co. are not considered tax-deductible, as they are not classified as charitable donations. However, tax laws can vary depending on your location and the specifics of your situation, so it's always a good idea to consult with a tax professional to get accurate advice based on your circumstances.

What happens if my Impact Partner ends their Kindness Community?

If your Impact Partner ends their Kindness Community with Standard Giving, don’t worry—your subscription will still make a difference. Even though the initiative has ended, all collected funds will be distributed to verified individuals, ensuring your kindness continues to have an impact.

Will applying affect my credit score?

No, applying will not affect your credit score. The verification process is designed to securely review your financial profile without impacting your credit.

Who can apply for support?

If you’re a US citizen, 18 or older, and need financial help, you’re welcome to apply. Check the current Campaign criteria to see if you meet the current qualifications. 

Uhhh…how are you accessing my accounts?

Great question! We use Spinwheel’s secure open banking technology to review your financial profile. This process is similar to how pre-approvals work for a car loan or credit card, allowing us to determine your eligibility for the current Campaign. For more information on how your data is used and protected, please review our Privacy Policy.

How can I become a recipient/Beneficiary?

Visit a Partner Campaign page and complete the application and verification process to become eligible. You must be 18 years or older to apply.

What qualifies me for support?

All Applicants must be at least 18 years old and reside in the United States. In addition, each Kindness Campaign may have additional criteria (live in a specific city, for example) tailored to a Campaign objective. Qualification does not guarantee an Applicant will receive financial support. 

How long does the application and verification process take?

The entire application and verification process is designed to be quick and efficient, typically taking about two minutes. Using advanced tools powered by Spinwheel, Standard Giving securely reviews your information to verify your identity and submit your details for consideration.

What information do I need to provide?

You’ll need to provide basic personal information, such as your name, date of birth, and phone number, to verify your identity. Specific requirements may vary by Campaign, but the process is designed to be simple and only asks for the essentials to confirm eligibility.

How do you verify my identity and profile?

We use Know Your Customer (KYC) processes and open banking technology powered by Spinwheel to securely confirm your identity and financial profile.

How are people selected for support?

We carefully review each application to understand who could benefit most from assistance. While we use advanced technology to help evaluate applications fairly, our focus is on finding people where support could make a lasting difference in their lives. We’ll adjust our evaluation process to align with these objectives and reach those most in need.

How does Standard Giving verify my situation?

Standard Giving partners with Spinwheel to verify your identity (phone + date of birth) and then retrieves your financial profile via a soft credit pull.  On occasion, Spinwheel will require the last four digits of your social security number to verify your identity. 

What type of financial info will Standard Giving see?

Standard Giving will retrieve a soft credit report that provides information about your debt liabilities, including credit card balances, mortgage loans, car loans, student loans, and more. This report also provides an overall financial snapshot including your credit score, total debt, and any accounts in delinquency. 

Will I be taxed if I receive money?

Funds received are typically considered gifts and are not usually taxed. However, tax laws vary, so it’s best to consult a professional tax advisor to understand how this may apply to your situation.
